Technology
Zone Curriculum
The Technology
Zone curriculum is designed to provide a total learning experience
in each technology module. Academic concepts are reinforced as students
combine math, science, reading, and social studies with technological
advances and systems in career applications. The curriculum helps
students to understand the usefulness of the technology and to learn
its real-life applications for problem solving in today's society.
The curriculum has been developed by educators and experts in each
technology area to provide outcome based modules that are benchmarked
to state and national standards.
Each lab manual
is provided in a three-ring binder, with pages contained in page
protectors. Using full color photographs, each manual provides:
Career Component
Each module
introduces students to a trade. The manual gives the student an
idea of what it would be like to actually work in that trade, including
information on job conditions, necessary education or training,
an income potential.
Terminology and Identification of Equipment
The student
is introduced to the key terms and definitions pertaining to each
trade, and to the equipment and materials unique to that trade.
Step-by-Step Activities
Once
introduced to career information, terminology, and equipment, the
student begins a "hands on" work experience, using professional
tools to complete projects or tasks.
Audio Tape
An audio tape
is included that follows the manual work-for-word, providing the
auditory component of the triple stimulus learning format. It aids
the students in pronunciation of important terms and provides reinforcement
of the written instructions.
